Annoying little POP UPS!

I dunno if this has been asked before, but I gotta ask.

I've always hated pop-ups, but it's REALLY annoying when they start showing up before I've even started a web browser!  Seriously, I turn my comp on, go into FS for a buzz-around, and 5 minutes later, the damn game minimizes, and lo and behold... POP UP WINDOW!!!

ARGH!  It's pissin' me off!  I browse with Firefox, but the little buggers start up in an IE5 window.  I've got ZoneAlarm as a firewall and 4 different anti-adware/anti-spyware programs (Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, Spyware Blaster), but still the little $h!ts keep showing up.  Makes me wanna beat up whoever invented pop-up windows...

Anyone know what's causing this and how I can bring an end to it?  THX!

Nevermind!  I've been in contact with my dad, he's helped me narrow it down to a little Trojan called EliteBar and it's components.  Apparently it manifests itself as part of IE5 and delivers ads to one's comp!  Devilish little trick.  Working on clearing it out, now.

You really should be using IE5. Get IE6 and firebox.

If you're talking about Mozilla Firefox, good luck. This program is a real shit. My high school use it. You can dowload files one time out of ten and as you wrote it the pop-ups are strangely blocked. It's supposed to block them so they don't appear but when Firefox blocks them it opens a new window. Useless you say ? I'd say really, really annoying. Not to say another word.
