Maby some one else knows if there is a way to take care of this particular problem.

Every day I spend 10 to 20 minutes deleting spam from my inbox.  This gets quite old when its repeating.  The service has a blacklist option with over the past month I have added around 300+ addresses to.  Some never return but others never seem to leave.  How many email addresses can these people have   :-/

I got to looking through the blacklist which is ordered by the @-----whatever.  Noticed a bunch coming from this @focalex2.com place.  I started counting the different addresses it uses.  Grand total of 103 from that address.  All with different things before the @ so the filter will not block them because it thinks its a new sender.

There are a couple of others that do the same thing and have upwards of 50 different ones on my list.  Is there any way to block them perminatly.  It never ends.  40+ emails a day and maybe 1 will be from someone I know

Been there, had that (time and time again too!)

To solve your problem:

1) Change you email address.
2) Only give it out to trustworth family & friends
3) Use a Gmail/mail2world or similar web based account for EVERYTHING else.

Once your email adress is out - its gone. If you stick to this it WILL work. You may consider getting a filter too. Not sure which one to go for myself.

I use Yahoo for most things.  Its my main internet service thats the problem.  For security reasons I trust it more then Yahoo when it comes to important emails that contain #s and such.  They dont allow you to change email addresses without going through a bunch of things.  So dont want to fight with changing.  Its just when the same place has a million email addresses no filter will block it out :-/  

The acual blacklist total over the entire time I've been with this service is reaching the 3000 mark.  Its rediculous  Thing is I dont know how that address got out.  The only thing it was used for was a couple friends and a couple buisnesses I've dealt with many times before  :-/

I use a little tact when it comes to blocking e-mails.

I use my filters to block incoming mail with multiple recipients. In fact, a lot of the e-mails I get have multiple reciptients. I don't have any family member who does that sort of thing, so I filter the multiples out.

If I have an account with a website, and I don't use it, I go ahead and delete the unused account so that the websites don't give away the address while avoiding political red tape.

And last but not least, I am using Outlook Express. Recent studies by one of the major antivirus firms concludes that the latest version of Outlook Express is the least suseptible to worms and trojans. Frankly, the company got surprised when they saw this. Earlier versions of Outlook were riddled with holes.

I have used this tactic and it works well for me. So well, that I never receive any more than 5 e-mails total a week.

Dude yahoo is great for blocking spam.... youll really only get three or four a week.

Probably not even one. Spam is sent through SMTP ports and Telnet through open servers (port 25 for telnet by the way). This system lets you type in a from, to, subject and message and then sends it. Easy spam.

In fact, the whole process is usualy automated with software sending out messages at the rate the server's CPU can handle. The orginal sender usually also sits behind a proxy so you can't even track the true orginal source.

OE and most web-based email clients allow you to filter content by words contained in the message.  My OE filters out anything containing the words Viagra, male enhancement, and a few others that I can't post in a family forum.

I might miss a couple of forwarded jokes but it's worth it.
