Not sure I understand what your asking?
Are you saying that Norton should start up with your computer and it isn't?
If so I'm certain there is a "options" catagory within Norton that you need to look at, search for a option to run Norton at start up.
(I don't use Norton (don't like programs that take over my computer) so am unsure if this option feature is available but assume it is)
Or you can trash Norton and get something more reliable and free like Avast ;) :D

I believe he's having the same problem I had awhile back, where the antivirus is running in the system tray, but it is disabled ie, not scanning correct?

I wasn't running norton, but Macafee, and found that the only way to get it back to original condition where it would run on startup was a full format/reinstall...

Seemed to be some sort of spyware getting into my system at the time, have you downloaded any good programs and done a scan?

the one and only step to get rid of Norton related issues is to get rid of Norton...

There is no other fix

McAfee isn't that good too, but a little better

I experienced exactly the same problem as Jared when I had some options suddenly disappear without warning.
I could only get Norton back into full running order again by doing a complete hard disk format, and a re-install of the program.
(This possibly corrects some faults/missing files, etc, in the System Registry)..?
..interestingly, following this, I also obtained a further FREE automatic virus update for the following 12 months, (normally it costs
