Alexa

Postby Stratobat » Sun Sep 19, 2004 4:58 am

Hey Guys,

I updated Ad-Aware SE Personal v1.04 to v1.05, ran it, and found 8 (Used to be 1 when running v1.04) entires for Alexa. When I click on the item details link it says that Alexa comes with Windows. Can I safely delete it using Ad-Aware, or does Windows need it?

Regards,
Stratobat

Edit: I deleted it when running Windows 98SE, but I'm not sure if it's needed for XP Home ???

Alexa supposedly does something "unspecified" for Microsoft.  Most of the reading I have done says leave it in there.  But since no-one seems to know what it actually does........ that is a very good question.

I have opted to leave it alone for now.

Same here, I have looked high and low for info on Alexa and very little is known.
I have removed most of it with no bad results but it would be nice knowing exactly what it is and does.
