hmm, ok this is weird..........and yes it over an hour......

215563 scanned files

46 suspicious

0 infected

0 disinfeced

When i got back to my computer it was offline and asking me to come online. I did but there is nothing telling me i can send a suspicious file. I'll see what i can do. But 0 infected really makes everything weird. I still can't start any program

Maybe start with something more basic than assuming you have a virus:

Are you booting from the HD or CD?  Whichever one you're using, try the other one.

If you can't boot from HD you may (probably not) have a bad Master Boot Record, a sign of infection.   Unfortunately I don't use XP so I don't know how you could correct this. If you boot from CD you should get a "clean" boot that will let you get into some diagnostic progs.

Run scandisk.

Run defrag.

Run system file checker.

Run your registry cleaner (I don't know how XP does this).

Uninstall the last software you installed - unless system restore already did this.

Let us know - we'll get you through this.

What is HD and CD

Won't safe mode help me? What is the combination?

It's funny, my PC has a virus, and i caught a cold. LOL

OK here is an update that is giving me some hope as to thinking my PC can still get through this.

I have DAP and a firewall and anti-virus. I thought the virus had disabled everything, including my DAP.

I was going to catch up on some paused downloads and it said DAP was not there.

I clicked to download the Concorde package and then my firewall, supposedly gone, alerted me DAP was trying to connect to the internet. Yeah allow it this TIME ONLY.

Then the DAP icon miracolously appears on my taskbar. Hmm, i click the DAP icon on my desktop, that program does not exist says the window.........i click the icon on the taskbar, and TA DA!

I think this is hope is it not?

Should i install my old VirusScan? I think i had a 4.0 safe boot disk somewhere....i don't want to do anything unless i am sure of it.

HD is hard drive. CD is compact disc.
But I don't know what DAP is.

Your original problem was that clicking any icon brought up an error message.  This may be a virus but more likely can be remedied by running the usual cleanups and diagnostics.  So boot from the CD into safe mode and run scandisk, defrag, system file checker, etc.

If you can run an antivirus from safe mode do that too.

I don't understand how you can run some progs but not others.  Are you clicking on desktop/quick launch icons or from explorer?  If you are able to get here you can run your browser.

Try running some other progs in safe mode, especially windows explorer.  Once everything is running OK in safe mode check the control panel to make sure.  Then boot back into normal mode and check the control panel again.  Driver problems look like a yellow question mark (Win98).

(PS - I wouldn't do a lot of general purpose web surfing and downloading until you get this resolved.)

DAP is download accelerator plus, to enter safe mode hold your F8 key while the computer boots, assuming you have WIN ME or XP,
As far as the missing wmplayer files goes, if you can get online and hold a connection try to download windows media player and reinstall it, sounds like you may end up reformatting the system, sucks I know, but sometimes for the best.
Still no linked images allowed around here Paz! Naughty...
