Something else to consider.
The Saitek equipment is fairly good. But the price difference between their stuff and the
really good stuff is extreme.
The main complaint that I have is with their customer support and the drivers that they provide for their flight panels.
You don't need to install any drivers for the yokes, throttles, or pedals. Just plug them in, and make sure that they're set up correctly.
On the other hand, my advice for the flight panels (other than the Pro Flight Instrument Panel) is DON'T!
DON'T INSTALL THEIR DRIVERS. Their drivers are just
good enough to make them work. But not very well. Get
SPAD and
FSUIPC if you want the most from FSX.
But in your search for a more realistic flight experience (in a V35, Cessna 172/182, and some other light GA aircraft) you might want to get the
Saitek PRO Flight TPM System (in addition to the Saitek throttle quadrant that comes with their yoke).
The Push/Pull knobs make this a truly great addition. Exactly like the real thing? No. But a hell of a lot better than using the noisy Saitek throttle quadrant for the planes mentioned above.
Here's what the real cockpits look like.

More to the question about realistic controls: This is the
GoFlight TPM version.
This would be a combination of the
Saitek TPM and the
Saitek Switch Panel - $130 + $82 = $212.
The
GoFlight TPM is $463. From all that I hear the GoFlight panels are a good choice, and are well made. But with the extra $251 that I saved, I can buy more flight gear.
Each of us has to decide what is more important to us. For me, I'm quite happy with the Saitek equipment.
