some work done lately
I've been working on the alternate static control thats down on the left wall next to the pilots leg.
this was a challenge as it involved a curved insert into the wall.
first I made the mold

then melted a layer of plastic with the heat gun and squashed it into shape

then added a little weight while it cooled

and there is the basic shape

while waiting I cut out the hole in the pit wall

after cutting out the final shape "carefully" and giving it a few layers of paint it's starting to look the goods

added some screws and a lever made from mdf and gloss red marine paint

and there you have it - a lot of work that doesn't look much but will look better once the carpet etc is added

this is the first attempt at the signage but I may have to have another try at this as I'm not really pleased with this result. also the shakey photography doesn't help
