Hey Guys!
I've been reading this forum for a little while but this is my first post so be gentle.
I have finally succumbed to the power of the dark side and begun my sim pit tonight. It's been in the design stages for literally years and has been through many tweaks and changes, but today I bought myself a soldering iron and built myself a little test rig.
Ok so it's a single button on a square of hardboard connected to the guts of a USB joypad, but to me it's very symbolic. And what's more IT WORKS
I had to tell someone and my wife just doesn't seem to understand how a grown man can get so excited over a single button!

Gear up...Gear down...Gear up...Gear down...Gear up...
One button just isn't enough. This is how the madness starts then

Congratulations! I too am wondering down this path of darkness for the first time, so I understand the excitement of finally seeing the dream starting to come to fruition.

JBarymore will be happy to hear that there is another to join our ranks of the deeply obsessed.

Whatever you do, don't stop! I made it to that point, and actually took it a BIT further and rigged up my own custom autopilot panel. And as you said, it WORKED! But alas, time, money and children have currently brought a halt to my simpit work. However, I have decided to go full out with an enclosed pit whenever I *do* have the time/money/space to get back to work on it, and I have already begun the design portion. I am pretty excited, although it's likely still at least a few years down the road.
