Connecting FSX computer to avionics computer

Postby stevehookem » Mon Nov 03, 2008 2:00 pm

OK, Ellie gave me the go for the computer I have to run their avionics. It should have plenty of power to run it.

How do I hook them up? haha I have my FSX computer running Vista 64 and the avionics computer running Windows XP. I was going to install Vista on the avionics computer but a box came up that said I cannot run Vista on this hardware. Maybe it's too old?

Can I connect a crossover cable to both? John---are you getting your info to the other computers wirelessly or with a router? Since I only have two computers, I was going to skip the router and go straight together.

How do I get them to see each other? What are the first steps with FSUIPC and WideFS? I purchased them but have not installed it yet. Do they go on both computers?

Steve,

Before ANYTHING else... you HAVE to have the network set up correctly.

Thanks, I'll use your guide. Seems easy enough! haha We'll see....

One other thought here: this is for my son so I am not as well versed in the the game. He flies FSX. Currently, when I watch him fly I see a part of the MIP on the screen. When he has the glass avionics on the cockpit MIP, he won't need that, right? Is it possible to see only the outside view like you are looking through the windshield? We have the 3-22" monitors using the TH2G for the outside screens. The bezels line up with the "approx" position of the windshield dividers.

Steve,

The goal is to have the "out the windscreen" view be ONLY the outside.

for that you can simply switch out to 2D view mode ( no DVC anymore, since it's coming to life anyways ;) ), then press shift+1 to disable the main panel, then just adjust zoom as desired and done
