Okay so this isnt exactly to do with building simpits (that will start when I have a job, though I will probably be investing in a PPL then anyway)

Basically I am looking for a good website to learn a few things about electronics. I know a bit about the basics and I have built a few circuits in the past, but I am doing this for a technology project and I working A level standard in my GCSE coursework... and my project is falling into the A level category somewhat too.

The main thing I am trying to find out is how to make something such as an LED fade on after a set time. In my project (a games console prototype) I am having an on button, which when pressed needs to fade on LEDs for the player number and seperate LEDs afterwards which correlate to what is happening on the screen- when the splashscreen shows up on the screen after however long it takes (lets say 3 seconds, and it will work off seconds not like it knowing when it has happened) the LEDs on the top of the case need to fade on.


Any suggestions for places where I could find this sort of information out? My teacher was talking about making a timed circuit, but I'm sure there is perhaps an easier way.


Any thoughts?

Yeh I was thinking of using Maplin for the parts.

On that hobbyprojects site I am feeling a bit drowned in text looking at the Microprocessor bit, but looking on the timer projects it looks a bit better. I am reading up on it now.

Hasnt the led thing something to do with getting the data from the kernel and then set-up the sequence in BASIC? Although i never have done physcial object programming before.

Well I want it to light up at the same time as something occuring on screen, but I do not want to have to work with making something which will check for changes on the screen... so simply I want it to be on a timer where the time for the LEDs to turn on is equal to the time it takes for the splashscreen to load.
