Hi peeps, I am building a simpit just can't get my head around how to run multi monitors.....I want to run 6 screens if possibe? 3 for the main view using triple head to go. Then i want 2 screens for the instrument panal and 1 8" touch screen for running a gps, whats the best way for running these? If i use more graphics cards do they all have to be exactly the same or can i use anything?

Just ordered a new pc for the sim. Hope it will run fsx nicely, what do you think??

Your vid card is going to be a bottleneck. FS isn't really SLI compliant so even a pair of 8600's in SLI mode won't be a big help. ATI has it's one advantage in that area, Crossfire works with all software because it requires no coding to be used. If you can I'd look at one of the new 8800GT's with 112 stream processors... very fast and what I'm picking up for my new comp.

The Triple Head to Go will handle the forward view OK... but for the MIP and GPS I would recommend using a second computer. Depending on what you are displaying on the MIP will decide how to handle it... it might be as simple as a Y-cable.

It's true- beyond simply spreading your main window across multiple displays, you start to really tax your system. Most builders seem to go with multiple computers for this, although I think multiple graphics cards in the right system could work.

I thought of adding a small monitor to display an undocked FS9 window for the GPS or the "six-pack" of primary flight instruments in my 'pit... but my experiments so far have shown that my system, which uses one gpu and normally shreds FS9 a a high fps rate without breaking a sweat, is barely up to the task. Massive framerate drop, generally speaking.
 Not sure how I'm going to resolve that, but for now I'm just planning to go with one display.
