http://www.homepages.mcb.net/bones/04fs ... al/GPS.htmThis page will tell you just about anything you need to know about using FS GPS data onto another device... like a Palm, GPS unit or another computer with a moving map display.
I'm seriously thinking about redesigning my simpit project (yet again!) to allow me to use this technique with a PC and a small touchscreen. That would make a very cool MFD-type display.

Thanks for the heads up Steve - that looks like it could be really useful.
Cheers,

Hi, This is really great and powerful software. Thanks a lot. It looks like a real GPS! I installed all the necessary files and tried to to acess the fs9 GPS values across the network using wide FS, but I was not able to see the aircraft icon moving.
The values I used are:
1- for the wideFS .ini
[Gpsout]
Port=com1
Speed=4800
2-For the main GPS out .ini in fs9
[GPSout]
Sentences=GSA,GSV,RMC,RMA,PGRMZ,GLL,VTG,GGA, (I'm not sure which to use so I put everything here)
Interval=1000
Port=WideFS
Speed=4800
PosTo6Decimal=Yes
Did I miss somthing? Or am I intirely lost? Please help. I really can't wait to include this as permanent display in my simpit I am building.
Regards, ermias

He doesn't describe using WideFS... so I'm not sure.
What else are you running on the WideFS machine?
I do see that your GPSout section is very different than the one in the tutorial... perhaps changing it to match will help.
[GPSout]
Sentence=RMC, PGRMZ, GGA
Interval=100
Port=COM1
Speed=52600
I also notice that you've changed both the WideFS .ini and the FS .ini Have you changed the CPGout.ini file?
I don't know how WideFS handles GPS data across the network, but it would seem to me that if you followed the exact installation instructions from the tutorial and then setup the PocketFMS software on the second machine it should work, no changes to the FS.ini or the WideFS.ini. Otherwise it would be a matter of finding which COM port WideFS is using for the network and using it to snag the GPS data.
Your best bet might be the email the tutorial author and see what he has to say.
Please keep us in the loop though... you're just the first guy to run into the problem... others will too and having the data here will help!
My eventual installation will be simpler, no WideFS.

Thanks for the quick reply. I based my parameters based on the read me file and the GPS.ini content. Part of it reads as follows.
From GPSout read me:
"If you use WideFS you can tell GPSout to send the GPS
data to the Client PCs. You will need to configure those in the WideClient.ini files."
From GPS.ini
"If you want to send the data across a Network via WideFs, set "Port=WideFS". You will need WideFS version 6.50 or later." ..... and "The speed parameter is not used if the Port is set to "WideFS". You set both the port and the speed in the WideClient.INI file's [GPSout] section."
I havn't changed the fs.ini at all, I edited the GPS and the WideFS. I use wideFS along with FSUPIC for FD and ND panels. I will try your parameters.
Thanks again, ermias

Hi,
Not really. Yesterday I was trying Flight Commander across netwok to check if it works with FreeFD and at the same time I was trying PocketFS and still no luck. I think I am almost heating a dead end. I guess it is wise, like you have already said it, to email and check the author of the software. We will see.....

ermias,
I can assure you that the purchased program does. You just have to save the flightplan with the fileneme "flightplan" in the FreeFD ND directory before you start the gauge.
best,
