New Joystick!!!

New joystick coming!

Saitek is set to launch the version of the X-52 that should have been the standard when first released!

Very cool, and I already know that I am goin got have to replace my current X-52 with this version for my 'pit.

That isn't much of a sacrifice... I had intended to get a second X-52 for the pit anyway or to use my (still working X-45).

This stick will make a nice toy for those who aren't sure that they want a simpit. The display gives you some cool readouts and the added controls add a new degree of realism to the sim in any event. I use the stopwatch features of the current X-52 all the time and I have the toggles set up for flaps, gear and speedbrakes.

~S~

I saw one of these at the FSX launch do that RC Simulations held in Bristol last weekend - I have to say that although it does indeed look more impressive than the previous version, it still doesn't float my boat... The centring tension on the stick seems very loose (adjustable?) and the detents on the throttle didn't seem very precise - more of a kind of fuzzy bump than a solid precise click.

My 2p worth anyway...

It goes with out saying that it continues to look like something out of Darth Vader's X-Wing... ;-)

I got a look at the new Saitek pedals, too, which look pretty good and solid and (importantly) wider than the CH versions. I almost succumbed and can certainly see me trying some of these when next I feel less financially embarrassed...

Spring tension on the stick can be adjusted by placing a solid shim either at the top or bottom of the spring. Greater spring compression, greater centering force. :)

How much wider would the Saitek pedals be?

It's the one thing I don't like about the CH pedals...

Mmm - don't know if I could give you exact measurements. Certainly a significant and noticeable amount.

Amazon list the dimensions as: 16.0 x 16.5 x 7.0 inches, so looking at the picture and from what I remember, I'd say that your feet would be about 7" to 8" apart.
