joystick is spyking...

Postby cleobis » Tue Sep 05, 2006 10:07 am

Hi, I did an extension to my joystick (about 30 cm) but now I get spikes all over the place... the joystick is nver centered when I calibrate it it keeps jumping around...anyone knows how to overcome this?

Just a guess, but is there any source of interference near your extension cable (like a motor, relay, etc.)?  You may need to shield your extension cable somehow.

With the extension in place (Iassume you mean an extension on the handle???) any slight vibration that would not have been noticable before is possibly transmittdd to the stick electronics as "input".  So the stick is "centered" but is jiggling around that center point.  So it is sending small signals all the time.

Try increasing the null zone on the X and Y axis.

Just a thought.

best,

....john

Hmmm.  I assumed he meant an extension to the joystick cable, not the handle.   That's why I thought it was an electrical interference issue.

sorry for misleading you guys...yes, it is an extension to the "handle" :)

I will try to increase the null zone, thks:)

I did this extension mainly for heli flying and it works very well, though the spykes still exist but because you are allways adjusting y and x axis in helis anyways I just see it as if there was turbulence, so no worries...

but when flying fixed wing it really is anoying....

will try that, thks guys :)
