Re-Installing FreeFD Instruments


I am still planning on running FreeFD instruments... and if Don LaFontaine (FreeFD author) does not release a new version.... likely I will be staying with the old version that I already have.

Moving Teamspeak to Secondary Machine

One of the constant problems with the default ATC in FS2004 is that the sound is on the same "channel" as all of the other sounds in the simulation.  Not very realistic when all the blasting engine and wind noise is routed to your headset  ;).

For flying online however ....... this can be remedied.

This afternoon I copied the Teamspeak program files off the main FS machine where I had been running it and onto the #2 networked machine that is also running the ND and the Backup instruments.  I then opened up the appropriate permissions in the network firewalls (the DSL modem firewall already has the ports open for Teamspeak onto the net).

Now the "radio" audio for online ATC  that is coming from Teamspeak is separated out onto it's own speakers / headset.  Add TComSet into the mix, and when I tune the Comm1 radio.... the Teamspeak chaannel switches seamlessly.  

WHAT a difference all that makes!

Next, to finish this off I used the button press assignment in my registered copy of FSUIPC to send a keypress out across the network via WideFS to act as the "hot key" for the PTT switch for Teamspeak running on the #2 machine.

So now the #1 button on the left side of the CH Products yoke grip is my PTT switch for Teamspeak.


Unfortunately... no real pictures possible of this stuff.  

As the details slowly come together...... the realism increases  ;D.

I've often thought of getting an old transport fuselage and turning it into a trailer-home... that would be just perfect, with a simpit in the nose!! LOL!!
