Hi there

Does anyone have any links to information about the internal dimensions/specs and viewing angles of the Cessna 172?

I am trying to build a cessna-like box around our simulator, and I'm particularly interested in the distance from pilot-windscreen, and the sort of height/angle I should have the front view at relative to the controls...

I think that your best bet is to go down to your local field and find someone who owns one and see if you could take the measurements. This is your best option since you will get the measurements that you want instead of the measurements someone else took. The second option would be to click this link: http://customer.cessna.com/

on the righthand side of the page is the single engine support stuff. Try the service center locator to find a service center near you and if it is close call them up and explain what you are doing and they may tell you exactly what you want to know or maybe even let you stop by and see it for yourself.

Yep, it may take some work, but at most airports where the people are even semi friendly, they will let you go out on the tarmac and look at one of their training planes. I mean it's not like you're going to seriously steal a Cessna 172.

From experience in the cockpit, I can tell you this, it is really cramped lol. A six foot tall person (me) has just a little bit of a slight down angle on the gauges no matter where the seat is really. The panel is huge in a 172, so it would cover far too much if you were designing it on a screen. It shouldn't though in a full scale cockpit. Good luck buddy.
