mixing USB and Gameport devices

I have an old joystick that I was thinking of turning into a throttle quadrant. The problem is that it is a gameport connection. I currently use a USB joystick to fly. Does anyone know if I can mix the two types of controlls?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin

I dont see why you wouldnt be able to as long as the gameport joystick works.

Affter posting I thought "why not try it".
It works perfectly.
The joystick has now been unassembled and tomorrow I will start construction of the new twin engine throttle quadrant. I will also have 4 new butons to use for something, Imagine the possibilities!

quick question reguarding joysticks, do most joysticks with analog throttle control compensate for reverse thrust at all? just wondering cuz I am working on my own cockpit simulating the 777-300 and need this stuff planned out as much as possible.

I'm not really sure on that. Im not using the throttle from the joystick, actually I broke the slide pot that was the throttle trying to get it out of the housing

.
I am using the two pots that were the X and Y axis of the stick as throttles. This works perfectly for me as I usually fly twin prop aircraft. Not really into the big stuff (unless it has a UPS paint job). As I usually have no need for reverse thrust I have never thought abot it before. Check out some of the other posts here in the homebrew section and im sure someone could answer this.

Yeah I noticed the same thing on the CH site. Guess they didn't do any research on this as I am now useing both the usb M$ stick and the new throttle quadrant made from the CH stick and have no problems at all.

Knightstryker,

unfortunatly no pics as I have no camera.
I got the idea from another site to use legos and as I have a couple million of them (no I am not exagerating) I thought "why not try it. Throttle still needs a little design tweaking but it does work great and really adds to the realism of the sim. I find myself sitting on the runway just throttling up and down sometimes and I taxi all over the airport just to play with it. Maybe that makes me crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way :P.
