Spitfire Project (part 2)

Only for Genuine FS fanatics! Taking this hobby from Real to Surreal? Or maybe just combining 4 hobbies into 1 ;)

Apart from being a scary, very gothic etcho film (whic is also very cool) I was amazed! That lil gauge hasnt been used in YEARS! It was cool to see it resurrected like that, almost as if it had just been hibernating....
very The Others ish, like a ghost...sort of...in a "Oh my, there are people walking around in period uniform shadows in that control tower!"-esque way.

Hi Ft.Lt. Andrew,
the movies were made buy the guy working on the instrument/cockpit interface, i can't claim credit for those. But thanks for the comments.

I have re worked the old gunsight and have cut and mounted the beamsplitter refelector glass and altered the light unit to give the correct image colour. With these problems sorted out i will re make a new gunsight to look a little more realistic .

Dave,

Your definition of "realistic" and mine must differ a bunch  ;).

Yeah... that looks totally unrealistic  :o.  Right.   ;)

So Dave.......

When are you going to get into real home-made experimental aircraft?  it seems a natural for someone with your skills.  There are lots of folks building the real thing.

Hint!  ;)  ;)  ;)

Hi John,
i have often thought about doing just that, but with the simulator it's a great deal cheaper to fly. No problems with inspections, engine overhauls, take off and landing fees and no worries about storage  ;D.
I would like to get involved with restoration work though, now the kids have grown up.

And they don't have the remove you from the ground with a putty knife if you screw up the construction job on the wing mounting either, I guess  ;).

again, I am left speechless at your amazing skill!
FANTASTIC!
Wouldn't be suprised if you get a knock on the door soon, someone (maybe even from Duxford) asking to see the work.

A small update on the new build pilots seat. All the hard stuff is now complete, all thats required now is to add the rest of the fittings and then make the sutton harness and the seat back cushion.

Hi John,
most of the original stuff was made by scaling up photos, but i did receive some great help from the guys doing the Y2K project, they are  building a spitfire from the ground up to flying condition. Along with the help from them, and purchasing some drawings from another company. i am now working my way back through some of the parts that were guessed.
No problem with the new thread, will have to start Part three.
Thanks for the kind words.
