Pit Plans

Postby Ol_Grey_Beard » Tue Apr 28, 2009 11:42 am

Hi

I've been lurking in the background for some time and enjoying reading the posts.
I thought I'd post this link for anyone looking for plans for a single seat pit. I have no connection to the author other than being a member of the Simpits group run by Gene. I think the plans Gene has come up with are perfect for the new builder and are a great starting point. The link is

http://www.geneb.org/pitkit/

You can download the manual for free and preuse it at your leisure. The plans should be available as you read this.

$65 delivered for those plans?

I think sitting down for an hour or so and drawing some things up could produce similar results for hardly any cost whatsoever. Looks nice, but could be done for free quite easily.

Give me 24 hours then. I'll design a cockpit. Any particular style you like?

Helps to not set design criteria quite so late on, lol.

Okay, so you want an enclosed cockpit based around a WW2 fighter. No problemo.

There we go

Scroll down and press 'Click Here' right at the bottom to download

Designs are only good if you can intepret them. Give me some wood and tools and I could make that no problem. Bearing in mind the whole point was for someone to make their own designs for free in a few hours, there you have it. Of course, it would be better if I actually cared about making that pit, had actual dimensions to work from and didn't have all my GCSE coursework to do too.

Enjoy.  ;)

[quote]I think the kids today would refer to your efforts as "EPIC FAIL", but they may have another label for it.

Design something.

Look, you made a statement about something you could do.  I called you on it and you coudln't do it.  Simple as that.

If you can do what I asked within the next three months, I'll still send you a plan set & the CD for free.

I dont want those bloomin' designs for free - As proven, I can do it myself for free... And I can intepret them, and there is sufficient information for me to be able to build it.

In 3 months I could construct the damn thing myself... I just don't want to. When I feel the need to make my own pit, I will design it similarly to as I have done here, refine it, model it in 3D (a process which would only take a week or so), put it into CAD (a process taking a few days) and cut it out on a LASER cutter at my school.

Just don't have the money nor the need to want to do it. C'mon, you like my designs really

Best laugh I've had in ages - thanks chaps  ;D

And MM9, if you ever fancy a job building simulator cockpits for real, please call me.  I'd get another blast of a laugh turning you away!

With such a great knowledge of 3D parametric modelling and CAD - how come you reverted to pencil and paper for this one eh?

Time to sign off - don't bother replying.
