FSX RjGlass Glass Cockpit Software - 100% Free!!!

Postby Aiden327 » Wed Jul 08, 2009 3:03 am

I searched but did not find anything so sorry if this is a repost. This is for FSX only.

I was looking up cockpitware for there free boeing glass cockpit software (but not free nav data and fsuicp) and the site wasn't working. So I randomly got the idea to type in Free glass cockpit software which usually never works. And....

One of the first results, http://rjglass.sourceforge.net/instruct.shtml

It runs on linux, windows and mac with simconnect and no need for fsuicp or bridge software. Its based off a CRJ-100 and should work fine for any CRj unless your really specific on the details. It also uses OpenGL so I assume you don't need much to run it.

What makes it different is its 100% free (minus the game) and can run on linux. So you don't need(but can use)  a copy of windows and you can use any old computer with a graphics card.

I am going to test this on Ubuntu Linux, 256mb's of ram, GeForce 2 and a Pentium II. That machine already runs 3d games and a fully function 3d desktop with 6 desktops thanks to the power of linux ;D so it should handle a 2d display with no problems.

Had a few complications, I don't have access to work with the firewall in my house to allow open ports, And I didn't win that argument. I will try setting up a pc to pc connection, I have 2 Ethernet ports now that I have my new pc and It shouldn't be that hard.

Sorry I haven't checked this forum in ages I have way to many things going on. :)

EDIT: I am going to re-build my linux machine with ubuntu 9.04 tommarow, maybe run down to the local computer dump and see if there's some old cashiers monitor real cheap becuase it would be impossible to fit a 20inch crt under my lcd  ;D. I will make sure it supports 800x600 possibly tilt mount.

I am using 2 - 17" LCD monitors under my main screens for instruments and it works great. I have 3 - 22" monitors on flexable mounts and that leaves about 10" of open space below. On the 17" monitors I have removed all of the mounting pedestals and put them flush with the desk. Works great and the default FSX 737-800 works the best.

For now I have my 22inch and a second 17inch crt for my temps and guages. If I put something big under my main monitor it would be hard to play other games so its a crazy situation I have to figure out. If I can find something small I can add it under my main.
