Connecting swiches

What is the best (preferably cheapest) way to connect swiches to the flight sim, i.e. be able to assign a swich that you bought from the store to move the flaps?

Jrom,

The cheapest way is to "hack" an old cheap joystick.

But you have to use a momentary button for the joystick buttons.  A latching switch will keep sending the button press as fast as the repeat rate is set.

best,
