Call Me Crazy...

Postby an-225 » Fri Jun 08, 2007 6:31 am

But I'm starting to plan...for an XB-70 Valkyrie simpit. A FULL SIZE replica of the forward nose (going all the way down to the canards), is going to be called for pretty soon.  ::)

Anyway, I was just wondering, what sites and products should I check out in order to help get me started on this project? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the nutthouse :D :D :P :o

As far as gauges I would look into Fsxpand, Its inexpensive plus you can customize the layout for such a unique deck. Of course FSUIPC from Peter Dowson is a must. your gonna need to get some monitors for your avionics, I did some ebay and I currently have 4 12.1" monitors for cheap. Your gonna need multiple PC's for the elements. All Electronics will help with switches, wire, connectors etc etc. JBaymore swears by Hagstrom cards for interfacing hardware.

The list goes on and on, not to plug my site but I have a few links in the Hardware and Software sections that could help:

Sounds likeit would be a cool pit! Good Luck

So far it doesn't seem any harder than a regular simpit - due to the low amount of info on the gauges used by the XB-70, I get lucky, and only have to focus on the 'dashboard', which only contains basic gauges - altimeter, attitude indicator and other things...  :P The rest of the space will be taken up by necessities - cup holders, coffee makers, leg-warmer-stashers etc.  ;)

How are you going to create the pod-seats that it had?

Thanks for that photo. ;)

To be honest, I'm not sure that I will recreate the pod seats. It will be semi-realistic. I probably won't model everything the real thing had - just enough to give it a Valkyrie feel. :)
