I've kind of jumped sideways with the 'pit project, after seeing nice deals on eBay for a 15" LCD and a 6.5" LCD... I've figured out how to set up the 15" off the second port for displaying the "six pack" as an undocked (and full-screen!) window (don't ask me how I did that- I have to try it again and take notes... but I had both main VC view and the "six pack" running full-screen).
It actually was not so much a lateral move starting to fiddle with LCDs, because the 15" is going to need some mods and so is my panel frame (it's bigger than the 12" I was hoping to find).
This is great- the 15" is the perfect size for that and when I eventually go 3-view with the primary display, I'll just stick a Triple Head on the second port (new GPU only has 2 ports)... but what about the little guy, which I want to dedicate for GPS and maybe displaying JPEG images of charts and checklists? I still have an S-video port left, but... *shudder* I don't think the image quality will cut the mustard. The 6.5" hasn't arrived yet; maybe I'll try that. But here are my questions- I'm looking elsewhere for info, but I -know there are some savvy multidisplay gurus around here:
-How can I do that (three discreet windows on 3 monitors)without running a separate program or getting a 4-port GPU?
-Can I somehow output that window through a separate video card (I have a "lesser" one already; got it dirt-cheap for testing purposes)? This is the solution I'm hoping for, as I have the hardware in hand.
-Would running a separate program for GPS and/or six-pack be worth the trouble/expense (bear in mind, I'd really like to be able to use a 6-pack for each plane based on the actual panel for that plane, not a generic one)?
-Would the new, improved window-dragging features of FSX simplify this?
