Upgraded to duel monitors

Postby kipman725 » Tue Feb 07, 2006 5:56 pm

After hearing about how awsome duel monitor setups were for flight sim games for the upteenth time from one particular freind and saying for the upteenth time I didn't have the cash, I rearlised that I had a spare 17" CRT so I thought what the hell and hooked it up.  Although the screens arn't exactly the same size and have different colour temps (the lcd is alot whiter)I was totaly blow away by how awsome duel monitor flying is.  So without thurther ado I shall post some pics of my new cockpit  8)

The shuttle isn't actualy my main pc, it's a pc myself and a very good freind use as a server and built together.  It runs ubuntu linux and is accessed through a VNC veiwer.  The orange thing poking out of it's back is an 120mm nexus fan as it's ICE has been modded for silence.  The old joystick I cannot use due to it been only gameport, but I may hook it upto a pc running readbarron 3d for some retro dogfighting ;D.

sorry about the odd angle there isn't much space widthways in my room.  This is my actual pc without side panel because I'm too cheap to buy another silent fan (I have plently of noisy ones  :P )

How did you get the view to stretch across?

easy I setup the duel monitors to horizontal span in the Nveiw options in my graphics driver then selected the 2560x1024 resolution in flight simulators graphics options.  If your using an ATI card you may have to download hydravision to get duel monitors working.

as I see you have an x700 heres a link to the hydravision download page for windows xp:
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/def ... lderID=293

I have heard that hydravision is very hard to setup due to an awfull user interface, but they may have fixed it.

kipman725,

Can you please trim the filesize of those images above down to under 100K?  Thanks.  It is good info and I don't want to have to remove them.

best,
