Need Gears for Throttles!

Postby Thunderboy » Thu Jan 29, 2004 12:41 am

C:\My Documents\xx1%AircraftStuff\Throttle\FlightSim_Com How To Build Dual Throttles2.htm

Im still looking for some gears, ala the TOP link, for the throttles. I did find some at the bottom site, but they are large, and $30.00 bucks for the set up. I will do it, but its still a gamble. Looking also at making Dowl rod wheels, with solid rubber on the outside for friction.(last resort before the $30.00 gear setup.
Anyone know of meshing gears with a 3 to 1 ratio.

one of the easiest ways to get gears is from a simple K'Nex set.
Some say my pinky toe was replaced with a fountain pen, and that I love to ride on nuclear bombs with a saddle. All I know is.... I'm called THE STIG!!!!

K'NEX are good but LEGO are better! Lego gears are more precise and come in more variations. I should know, I own over 9 million of them. (Don't ask)

Thunderboy,

Gears.... you need GEARS?

Try this site:

If you can't find what you want/need there...... I'd be surprised.

Thunderboy,

Hey... no problem.

How about posting updates on your design and progress here when you get a chance?  Also some digital photos?

best,

Yes Im gonna do a whole page or 2 for download with a pattern/actual pics/pics from actual wildcat manual. This is a true WW2 Throttle Quad, with as many of the Switches, etc that I can cram on, including "Trim Wheels", which is very cool.
I have seen "Throttle Quads " that are incredibly crappy, for 125.00 bucks. For about the same, you can have a waay more realsitic/acting/ looking Quad. Basic woodworking skills are needed.

Got the gears off e-bay. Went with lego! They need modification, but it looks like they will do. Now all I need some friggin' TIME!!!!! ;D

I know this sounds expensive (it is insane) but I have been buying parts for like 6 mo's. Not all at once. Its only after I added it up I realsized the $$. Wish I would have had it when I flew every day though! Oh well!!!

Plus it will roll over to other sims, so I think in the end its worth it.
