I know Im not the only one with this problem.... this is for the IRIS F-22 available here for FSX. This is the updated version, but as you can see... the burners are in the wrong spot. They are actually below the nozzles and slightly off center. Im sure it can be fixed in the aircraft.cfg, but what do I change, and to what?

Yup.  You have to edit the cfg file, nost likely the [smokesystem].

I'll have to check to see if I have that one, and if I do I'll post the corrected "smokesystem" part of the .cfg, tomorrow evening.  I'm in the middle of correcting the smoke effects for the Il-62 at the moment, then I have to hit the sack.  If I don't have the IRIS F-22, I'll download it and make the fix tomorrow evening, also.

Don't you just hate the misaligned effects!   Roll Eyes

Edit to ad, yes, i have it, but I had not corrected the effects yet.  I'll post them tomorrow evening, unless someone beats me to it. Cheesy

Working on it.  The actual problem lies in the fx_f22burner file.  It looks like it's made up of two elements that should be superimposed over each other.  One is a "glow" that you can see that is alinged correctly (you can see that as the glowand rings that are centered on the afterburner cans, looking straight up the tail pipe) and the flame effect.  The flame effect is too low.

I'm going through the fx_f22burner now to see if I can figure it out.

You've heard the "I've got some good news, and I got some bad news" joke?

EmbarrassedBad news.  At this time I can't make heads nor tails out of the effect file.  There's something like 45 different sections in the the effect file, so I don't know where the "glow" ends, and the "flame" begins, or how many elements actually goes into making an "afterburner" flame.

SmileyGood news.  I added the afterburner effect from the SU-34 Strike Flanker, and it's a fair replacement.

EmbarrassedBad news:  You gotta have the SU-34 Strike Flanker so you can, at the very least, add the "fx_SU_34_afterburner" effect to your FSX effects folder

SmileyGood news:  Download available here: http://www.simviation.com/fsxmilitary6.htm

Unless, of course, you already have it....

Assuming that you ehither have it, or download and install, at least, the effects, here's the "corrected" afterburner placement:

Quote:
[LIGHTS]
//#1=beacon  #2=strobe  #3=nav
//#4=cockpit #5=landing #6=taxi
//#7=recog   #8=wing    #9=logo

light.0 = 3,   -14,   -21.500,    0.500, fx_navred
light.1 = 3,   -14,    21.500,    0.500, fx_navgre
light.2 = 1,     4,    0.0000,    2.800, fx_beacon
light.3 = 6,   -25,    2.5000,    0.300, fx_SU_34_afterburner
light.4 = 6,   -25,   -2.5000,    0.300, fx_SU_34_afterburner
light.5 = 2,   -16,   -23.000,    0.000, fx_Vortices
light.6 = 2,  -16,    23.000,    0.000, fx_Vortices
//light.7= 5,  25.0,    0.00,   -8.50,   fx_llight
light.8= 4,  18.0,  0, 3.0, fx_dsb_vclight_tq
light.9= 4,  18.0,  0, 1.0, fx_dsb_vclight_tq
light.10 = 1,   -14,   -21.500,    0.500, fx_strobe
light.11 = 1,   -14,    21.500,    0.500, fx_strobe

{Lights} are way down at the bottom of the aircraft.cfg. Just replace it with the above quoted lines.

Cool
