Site main server upgrade

Postby pete » Thu Feb 07, 2013 1:12 pm

As some of you may have read from our front page we are upgrading to a new more powerful server and (hopefully) much better bandwidth availability .

The huge database transfer has been done and testing about as far as we can go before going live (e.g. how the site handles load).

So next week we will be transferring our domain to this new server. There may (or may not) be some downtime but this should be limited. The reason for this is that worldwide services can take time to update with ISP's throughout the globe.

So please be patient during any downtime and realize this is an upgrade aimed at giving all our users a better experience.

:)

Well we've had a day of it. We tried the new server/system out today under a live traffic load and it wasn't up to it, so it's been rolled back under cover for the night. Old server is back doing the work. Software balancing required. Not unlike quite a complex engine.

Those who used the site this afternoon will have noticed some glitches like non loading pages, etc.

We think we have just about tweaked the engine to take the traffic and will again try tomorrow.

Thanks for your patience.  8-)

Hi Pete... :)

Just read the e-mail about the new unit...thanks for keeping us up to date... ;)

Everything works fine for me regarding this electronic gizmo and do not see any problems with the speeds on Simviation.

However...I just can not get the old girl to move fast enough with my breakfast this morning... :-X    ;D
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
