For techies only - core memory

Back in the "Old Days"TM, you had to really work hard to make a computer.

Me? I always avoid work so I didn't have a "real" computer until the late '80s.

We still use a vintage '75 Harris mainframe on the B 52-H CPT. It uses the ferrite core memory, but a lot smaller then the "cube" in the vid. The AF is finally getting serious about replacing the Big Blue Box. I just wonder if I'll see it before I retire in about 8 years.

I wonder then, will they be replacing it with the newest technology, ie, biological cell memory?
