Daube...Test Flight 3

Postby Flying Trucker » Sat Jan 14, 2017 8:47 am

Good morning all... <<r

Have made some changes.

Bought new Acer K222HQL Monitor to replace my 12 year old Acer Monitor which only had one plug in the back of the Monitor. This one has All the Plug ins I will need.
So I have eliminated the one Cord Adapter but still have one Cord Adapter going from my Samsung Monitor to the Computer.

Could not find a Cord to go from the Samsung Monitor to the Computer which would plug into the NVIDIA Card without using the Adapter.
The Samsung is 5 years old and is still used as my main monitor.
The employee in the Computer Section at the store said I should not get a large drop in Frame Rates by using this Cord plus Adapter.

The Acer was on Sale so I picked it up.

The NVIDIA card shows up in the FSX Settings so all is well there.

Microsoft Windows 10 & FSX Deluxe/Acceleration
FSX Terrain & Water Settings
-All at Max except Mesh Resolution...
-Mesh Resolution set to 5% one move below MAX Setting
-Scenery Complexity...Very Dense
-Auto-gen Density........very Dense

-Frame Rates set at 30 in FSX...

-General Aviation.......38
-Airport Traffic...........Medium
-Roads...15 & No Boat Traffic...0

Payware:
ORBX...Scenery & Weather
REX.....Textures
FSWC...Flight Simulator Water Configurator set to Steves Settings
Aircraft...Carenado Cessna 185 Wheel Skis

Season is Winter and early AM simulated Cross Country Flight
Left FRAPS on

Now I am just wondering...when I take a Screenshot I Pause the simulated flight...perhaps I am not waiting long enough for the Frame Rates to change...never thought about that  ...then I take the simulated flight off Pause and take the Screenshot.
Maybe it is the way I am doing the Screenshots that is the reason for the fluctuation in Frame Rates...shall have another go soon... ;)

Here is how the simulated flight came out as for pictures and Frame Rates:

Go to see you made some changes :)
I'm surprised you get only 20 FPS .
After plugging your new screen to the GTX580, did you force FSX to regenerate its shaders by deleting the content of the c:\users\doug\appdata\local\microsoft\fsx\shaders* folders ?

Hi Stephane;

Three Folders come up...3rd one is a Temp I think...empty
(1) Shaders which has 5 Folders when opened
(a) Common
(b) Fixed Function
(c) General
(d) Misc
(e) Terrain
All Five have stuff in them.

(2) Shaders 10
(a) Shaders HLSL
(1) General
(2) Misc
(3) Terrain
All Three have stuff in them.

Have not Deleted anything yet.

Windows 10 & FSX Deluxe/Acceleration

If you want me to Delete anything should I just Delete the Folder or Open the Folder and Delete the contents :?:

Doug, first of all I want to ensure we are really speaking of the same folder, because this is very important.
Sorry if it sounds dumb, but just to make it 100% precise and remove all doubts: I am not speaking about the folders which are in the installation folder (root folder) of FSX. The files in there should never be deleted.
Also, I'm not speaking about the files in c:\users\your name\appdata\Roaming\microsoft\fsx\.

I am speaking about the files which are in c:\users\your name\appdata\Local\microsoft\fsx\.
The path ("Local" instead of "Roaming") is very important.
I think you were already pointing to the right folder, but I just wanted to be sure

Ok now, in that FSX folder, as you wrote there is a Shaders and a Shaders10 folder.
You should remove the complete content of both these folders. Which means, you open the Shaders folder, you select all the folders inside (Common, Fixed functions etc...) and you delete them.
Then you do the same with the content of the Shaders10 folder.
Then you start your sim. All of these files are going to be generated again, based on the new video settings and hardware.

Once this is done, we can take a look at your video card settings (in the NVidia Control Panel) to check if anything can be optimized in there :)
Finally, since you are flying mostly slow aircrafts, you might want to set the FPS limit to "unlimited" (full right), just to test. I don't think you'll get any blurries, and even if you do, then you can switch back to the 30 FPS limit :)
