Test Flight

Postby Flying Trucker » Fri Jan 06, 2017 11:05 pm

Goodly evening all... <<r

Test Flight Complete
There were no Black Screens and the Simulated Test Flight did not Freeze Up.

Windows 10 & FSX Deluxe/Acceleration
REX
ORBX Scenery & Weather Theme & Airports
FSWC...Flight Simulator Water Configurator set to Steve's Favourites
Season was Winter and the Simulated Test Flight was early morning
Aircraft: Carenado Cessna 337
Flight Plan:
Claresholm Industrial (CEJ4) NON DIRECT TO High River (CEN4) Alberta Canada
Duration of Simulated Test Flight was 2:19 HRs.
NAV AIDS...NDBs...VORs...GPS...and a little old fashioned Map Reading thrown in for good measure

I set FRAPS to 24 and forgot to turn it on through the simulated test flight but got it turned on when taxiing in.

Again Thanks Everyone for your Help... ;)

You're doing it all wrong!!!

What fun is it if you're not crashing all the time.

I'm VERY glad that you've got it all sorted.

Goodly morning OldAirmail...

Thanks ever so much for the comments...looking forward to another simulated flight somewhere within the Region of my ORBX:
USA CANADA...Pacific Northwest
USA CANADA...Pacific Fjords

Would like to purchase another one or two ORBX to compliment those two Payware Sceneries.
Of course I shall wait until they come on Sale.

I like the Tongass Fjords and Misty Moorings Areas.

Misty Moorings worked great on FS2004 and FSX until I switched from Windows 7 & 8 to Windows 10 and then I got all kinds of problems.

If you or any one else has some suggestions on ORBX Scenery to compliment the two I already have or any suggestions of a several hour simulated cross country flight within the ORBX Scenery I already have Please leave me a reply right here.
It would be most appreciated.

I would also like to do some ILS Approaches with the use of the Glide Slope/DME too several airports within the ORBX Scenery I already have so if anyone has some suggestions Please reply right here.

I wouldn't call it a "from here to there" trip, but the René-Levasseur Island, and the Eye of Quebec, is pretty enough to hurt.

Take off from Sept-Iles (CYZV) on a heading of 328, for about 100 nm.

This is just Global Base, Vector, and openLC Canada. That's it! Nothing fancy.

I was honored to fly these in Vietnam. We called them 0-2a Super Skymaster for forward artillery spoting. A super handling ac, handles great with just one turning!!! This would be my pick for a family plane!!!

Good morning Roypcox... <<u

Thank you for the comment and yes the Cessna 336 and 337 are good small family aeroplanes.

I have owned both and worked for a company that had the Government Contract to do Forest Patrols looking for Forest Fires mainly. We flew Grid Patterns in the Mix Master 337.

What I liked was getting paid and having a second flying profession when not flying the Heavies on Regular Routes. I did some Swamping (Float Flying) for them also. Would grab all the Charters I could get when not on Scheduled Runs...the 2nd income came in handy but time away from family was exhausting to say the least.

Thanks for the comeback, you and I have had some of the same experience in our flying careers. I had to stop my carrer at 48y/o due to health reasons so I`m sure you have more time than I . Always great to hear from you and your experiences .

Thank you Roypcox... <<u

You must have had an interesting career flying the Mixmaster during the Vietnam War period.

As the Cessna 336/337 are Center Line Thrust did the Military give you a Type Endorsement on your Ticket to carry over onto Civilian Street :?:

After the Vietnam War we had hundreds of American Helicopter Pilots here in Canada...well trained, experienced and just all around nice fellas to work with or be around.

Going back to the Cessna for a moment, the first 336 we bought (the Old Girl and I) was a fixed undercarriage Mixmaster...nice aeroplane and then we got the chance to pickup a 337. The 337 I liked once the undercarriage problem was rectified.

As a family we did a lot of fly-in camping...as you know the 337 looks like a big aeroplane compared to the 172 but we outgrew it within a couple of years and it had to be packed just right as in my opinion without the Belly Pod there is not a lot of space for camping gear once you start adding kids.

After the 337 we had an Apache for awhile but once the children got larger and more of them money had to be put away for their University, College, Sports...etc...etc...

I can honestly say Aviation has been Great for me...it was always a Profession/Career AND NOT A JOB. Once Flying becomes a JOB it is time to find another Career.
