Good-morning Rich... <<u

Technology gets better every day, at least that is what the College Boys think...

Have a look at just some of the units available, and I say just some...

https://www.google.ca/search?q=Aircraft ... 29&bih=607

When I started flying about in rag and wood/tube aeroplanes the Helicopter was a novelty and the VOR was still on the Drawing Board.

The ADF and Map Reading was the Navigational Practice.

If a World War ever happens the first things to go will be the Satellites, so much for GPS.
The ADF will still be operational as long as there are Radio Stations.
We had to learn Morse Code as a Pilot both in the Military and as a Civilian. The Private Pilots Licence at one time required the learning of Morse Code along with the HAM RADIO LICENCE...they have dropped Morse Code as a Requirement for most Civilian Licenses...a BIG Mistake.

The Dual ADF Gauge was very popular operating along with the Dual VOR Gauge when VOR Navigation came into being.

I suppose they have or will develop a Navigation System that does not rely on Satellites, they have made or making Space Travel where a Human does not have to go to a Bathroom/Washroom, just look at all the Star Trek Movies and Space Movies. Have never once seen Captain Kirk or Captain Picard get up and say they are going to the Bathroom/Washroom...probably because they do not have PROPELLERS OR BATHROOMS on those Flying Machines... :o

Thanks again for your reply Rich...sorry to get so dang long winded again...

Not at all Doug, it's good to learn, as I say I know very little about the art of navigation, yes I can follow a line on the GPS but know nothing about ADF and Radios ect. I must set aside some time and learn, no doubt I'll be bombarding the forum with questions.
