The air speed velocity of an unladen swallow is actually 15 flaps per min, not 43...

African, or European?

I suspect that if truth be known Star Wars was partially inspired by the legend of King Arthur & his Knights. There are very few original stories.

I think Lord of the Rings is also compareable to Star Wars.

Actually the movie Star Wars was based on a Japanese film titled "The Hidden Fortress", as I remember.

Star Wars was not based on 'The Hidden Fortress', but the characters of R2D2 and C3PO were based on the farmers pressed into service to help save a defeated princess in that movie.  Star Wars was most directly influenced by the old Flash Gorden serials from the 50's...

The Ledgend of Zelda, one of Nintendo's most popular games is a rip off of Lord of the Rings. The first one for the N64 is almost a dead on copy.

Star Wars is a ripoff of old Western and Samari movies.

When the movie is a flop, it is a rip off.  When it inspires an entire genre and changes it forever, it's considered homage.   ;)

I'm surprised that anyone has even heard of "The Hidden Fortress".  I saw it several years ago when the AMC channel was running a tribute to the Japanese film maker Kurosawa.

Just to give credit where credit is due, Westerns such as "The Magnificent Seven" and "A Fistfull of Dollars" owe their origins to the "samari" movie.

By the way, has anyone seen the movie "Arthur" yet?  (It was released here in the U.S. this weekend.)

From what I've seen it looks like crap, but my sister still wants to see it.   I found this in a review in the paper:

...in a scene in winter Guinevere is whering only several leather straps around her chest.  Granted, this before the invention of the jog bra, but this is woman who managed to find lipstick and eyeliner in the forest. She should be able to find something more suitable to the weather conditions, like her male counterparts.

lol

also, the stuff about merlyn being a guerilla leader is garbage.
