Thanks Doug, I think the short trousers in primary school must be a British tradition. I remember going to school in the winter with shorts on, definitely a case "I don't know where the wind is coming from but I know where it's going" :o

Peaked cap with the school badge on it, jacket with a badge, short trousers (cold knees), one sock up, one sock down, boots, and a satchel for books.

I remember the time well...1930's + 1940's.

Learning the three; "R's"....Reading, Riting, and Rithmatic.
