Late for work...

Postby Flying Trucker » Thu Dec 01, 2016 10:11 pm

Goodly evening all... <<q

Many years ago Bob a good friend, a fellow aviator and an Ace from World War Two took a job as a greeter at the local Wal-Mart store.

He did this for several days a week just to keep himself occupied and out of his wife's hair.

Problem being he couldn't seem to get to work on time.

Everyday he was 5, 10, 15 minutes late. He was a good worker, really tidy, clean shaven, sharp minded and a real credit to the company.

One day the Manager called Bob into the office for a talk.
He said "Bob, I like your work ethic, you do a bang up job when you finally get here but your being late so often is becoming bothersome".

Bob replied "Yes I know boss and I am working on it. I will try harder!

The manager was pleased with the reply, but being rather puzzled he went on to comment..."I know you are retired from the Armed Forces, The Royal Canadian Air Force I believe, what did they say when you showed up late in the morning :?: "

Bob looked at the floor smiling and chuckling quietly and then said with a grin..."good morning Colonel, can I get you a coffee Sir :?: "
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

I remember the very first day I started work, as an apprentice Electrician when I was 16 years old, after leaving school in 1950.

When I got back home after work, I suddenly realised that I was never designed for this; "work" malarkey.... .....

...and never did enjoy it until the day I retired!.... ....!

(The second happiest day of my life).

I should have been born rich and "work-free".... :happy-bouncyshadowgreen: ...!

The best one I ever heard (and used successfully a few times since) was when a shipmate who was running late for work-center muster ran in the door and yelled "Don't pay the ransom, I escaped!"
Our work center supervisor laughed so hard he let him get away with being late.

If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Hi Matt! It was like that in the Navy too. I perfected the art of arriving at exactly muster time.
One supervisor I had even warned everybody that if they walked in the door after me they were late.

One day we both walked into the hangar at the same time but through different doorways. Our shop was in the center of the hangar and I started running
to get to the shop first but he quickly realized what I was doing and he got there a second ahead of me. It was almost a photo finish.
He turned to me, laughing, and said there was no way in Hell he was going to let anyone see him coming in after me.
