Many years ago Bob a good friend, a fellow aviator and an Ace from World War Two took a job as a greeter at the local Wal-Mart store.
He did this for several days a week just to keep himself occupied and out of his wife's hair.
Problem being he couldn't seem to get to work on time.
Everyday he was 5, 10, 15 minutes late. He was a good worker, really tidy, clean shaven, sharp minded and a real credit to the company.
One day the Manager called Bob into the office for a talk.
He said "Bob, I like your work ethic, you do a bang up job when you finally get here but your being late so often is becoming bothersome".
Bob replied "Yes I know boss and I am working on it. I will try harder!
The manager was pleased with the reply, but being rather puzzled he went on to comment..."I know you are retired from the Armed Forces, The Royal Canadian Air Force I believe, what did they say when you showed up late in the morning
"Bob looked at the floor smiling and chuckling quietly and then said with a grin..."good morning Colonel, can I get you a coffee Sir
