OK, so I'm not one of the brightest bulbs shining in the night.

Among other things I'm dyslexic (letters, numbers, and even words can get transposed while reading and writing).

And, as time goes by, I'm less willing to put up with Stupid.

I never particularly liked cranky old bas%&@ds before, but I sure do see where they came from. Now.

A week or so ago there was a bit of a buzz about the sun.

It seems that only three out of every four people in the USA knows the earth revolves around the sun.

For the 25 percenters - the sun DOES NOT revolve around the earth.

So I'm getting my daily dose of news, when I see this in Google News.

Image

I don't really care if the FDA approves this or not.

So the article is about using the DNA from THREE (3) people. Fine.

But then the article states that this procedure MAY result in a child bearing the DNA from three (3) parents!

Beam me up Scotty. Nothing here is worth the effort.

I'm with you OAM! I don't consider myself the smartest pup in the pound by any means whatsoever but true stupidity just drives me right up the wall. I guess it's a sign of old age or as the saying goes "He doesn't suffer fools lightly." Whoever wrote that article for the Tech Times should have their laptop incinerated.

Oh, and the other 25% , they think the Sun revolves around them.

If it isn't on the comprehensive assessment test (the one you have to pass to graduate high school) teachers don't waste their time teaching it.

I recall seeing the requirements for "graduating" the 10th grade in the 1890s.

One thing that the kids back then had to know was, not only the names of each country in the world, but the capitals, major rivers, and mountain/deserts, etc.

And ONE QUARTER of those in the US don't know that the earth revolves around the sun?????

Wait a minute! Wait a minute! Wait a minute!!!

I got it!

ONE QUARTER of the people polled don't know what the word "revolve" means. ^-^

Now I feel better.

But they can't teach "Common Sense" even if it was on the CAT. I worked a job in a retail store for 8 months a couple of years ago and that was a real eye opener. Some of my coworkers said every high school grad should work in retail for 6 months before they go to college. It would motivate them to really study hard in college for fear that they might end up like some of the rude and clueless customers they had to deal with. I think it's a good idea.

OK, I just took a trip from Des Moines to KMKC.

In the '80s I drove from Minneapolis to KC, MO, and I have to say that it looked better in real life than in FSX/P3d. LOTS & LOTS of little tiny hills.

Up & down. Up & down. Up & down. Up & down. Up & down. Up & down. Up & down.

But in FSX it looked VERY flat.

I started in winter, but soon switched to summertime. Much better.

Then I got bored, so I switched to a jet fighter.

If I hadn't been in such a rush to end the trip, I might have checked the gas tank.

Yeah. I didn't make it. Died 14 miles from a landing.

Why didn't I crash and burn in Hawaii? Nice place to roam around as a disembodied spirit.

Nope. I had to crash and die in a place that's so FLAT, that a pizza looks like a fabulous ski resort!

I'll need your address so I can haunt you for the rest of your life.

Shhhhsh! What kind of an idiot doesn't check to make sure that he has enough fuel for a flight! IDIOTS!!!!!

Hawkeye, I worked a midnight shift in a 7 - 11 convenience store for a while.

The owner asked me at the interview if I knew how to make change.

I didn't answer right away because I was trying to figure out what kind of a trick question that was.

Later I learned that it was an honest question.

This is a world where you can get a passing grade, just for TRYING to answer.

"This is a world where you can get a passing grade, just for TRYING to answer."

Tell that to my 14 year old A+ student daughter who's busting her butt trying to keep from flunking HP Math. (This HP Math is a grade level higher algebra, more indepth and faster than the standard 8th grade course. (Supposedly it will look better on a college application.) Personally I've looked at her math book and this course would have whipped my dumb butt.

Stupid Clueless people

I never had to work retail or fast food, thankfully.

but if ya really, really wanna see your fill of some of the most clueless people to work with who are just about outright dumb,,,,,

get a job working for a local or state or federal government

at 1 time I worked for a local government after 5 years I had to quit to save my Sanity what was left of it

then this 1 job was working as close to the federal government as high up as I could go anyway,,,not quite Pentagon level but almost, and I'm tellin ya, the amount of ignorance, stupidity is beyond pathetic !!

I would have my doubts if many of them could wipe their butts, if the directions weren't wrote on the toilet paper itself, how they ever got the job, is beyond me, well I do know how some got the job, and it wasn't due to experience or education,,,,,

it was to fill quotas of the NAACP type,,,

most people in the general population could not conceive what I'm talking about, unless they experience it for themselves, bout' as close as you could get to experiencing it, would go to the license bureau for either a drivers license or to get plates, bout the same !

its no wonder this country is in a mess, and most of em' of these higher positions, have some sort of college education or university education.

and that itself leads me to wonder, really, just what are they actually teaching people in those "Over-Glorified" Universities & colleges across the country ???

and I'm talking about like :

Harvard
Princeton
Notre Dame
Stanford
UCLA

Those Ivy League over-glorified Universities & colleges of those types

I keep asking myself this Question :

If those people / types are so Smart ??????

and so Educated, then why is everything in such a Mess ???

Why so much Corruption & Fraud within the Federal & state governments ???

Do those IVY League Universities & Colleges NOT teach them about morals, and that Fraud & Corruption is a serious offense and will / could warrant serious Prison time ????

I've noticed thru the years that theres so many Politicians who are corrupt, been indicted, arrested, investigated, thrown out of office and yet they all, with the exception of a few, have had their education from some of those Ivy League Universities & Colleges !!

Look at the Corrupt Bankers !

they've all got some of those Ivy League Educations behind them, and look at what low life Degenerates they are !

Tellin ya what their teachin at those Ivy League Universities & Colleges, is how to Lie, cheat, steal, be corrupt and how to commit Fraud !

From Banksters to Politicians to corrupt Corporate CEO's, and Pentagon Officials, they've all attended in some form or another one of those Ivy League Over-Glorified Colleges and Paid Big Bucks - to get what they call a Degree ( I refer to it as a License to Lie, Cheat, Steal and be corrupt & Fraudulent) ! :D :D :D

I myself have been to Harvard, Yale, Princeton - never did Graduate, Then again, I wasn't there to get Brain-Washed, or what I call, "Zombi'fied" - Nope, just there to make a delivery in my Truck, just a delivery driver !

Also I could never see myself spending $100,000 to $150,000 dollars or more to "supposedly" get "Educated" by those Phony places, I'd rather take that money and open up a small business of some kind and make a go of it .

I've seen a lotta people do that go "deep into debt" for an education to "hopefully" work for some big ol' company, only to get Laid off or can't find a job at all .

Dunno' I'm happy just being Poor and Stupid , Less Stress and less B.S.

Maybe I watched too much Andy Rooney on 60 minutes ????

That's all for the good.

In high school during the '60s you were given a choice of fulfilling the normal requirements to graduate, or to take additional classes for what New York state called a Regents Diploma.

The Regents Diploma route was intended for those who wanted to go to college.

I didn't see any reason to take standard classes, and had vague hopes of going to college.

For a number of reasons I knew that, that was unlikely.

But still, if you have to try anyway, you might as well try for the best.

I did get the Regents Diploma.

I believe that it helped me, personally, even though I never made it any farther up the educational system.

And at the other end of the spectrum are the students who see no reason to learn more than what they already know.

But this is all old news - Reading Statistics

Strangely, two of the statements about dyslexics at the bottom don't really belong there.

Dyslexics do have a problem reading, but that is somewhat like saying that people in a wheelchair have a problem walking.

It is possible to improve to some degree, but there will always be problems.

A few little known facts - dyslexics often score slightly above normal on IQ tests when the dyslexic is given more time to work out the numbers, letters, and words. Dyslexics, generally, have a better sense of spatial relationships, and a higher mechanical aptitude.
