Addon OAT gauge?

Postby Merlin0859 » Thu Aug 27, 2015 8:21 am

I have been flying Alabeo's new Cessna 404 Titan. I dearly love this airplane but it has one very minor but annoying flaw. No outside air temp gauge. This may be realistic but it's very annoying. Does anybody know if there is a freeeare addon OAT gauge anywhere out there? Thanks for any help! :-)

What I do, in a case like this, is search for a plane fitted with an OAT gauge in my Hangar, fire up my copy of FS Panel Studio*, copy the gauge, and apply it to the panel on my aircraft which doesn't have the gauge fitted!

(An aircraft fitted with an OAT Gauge fitted will have it listed in the Panel File!)

Not freeware but I'll check it out. Can't believe they left the fool thing out, actually! Maybe it's a real Titan thing. Who knows. Thanks! ;)

Having found a suitable gauge, you can insert the location details in the Panel Folder notepad by hand, but it does require a knowledge of the meanings of the location and size, etc, co-ordinate "numbers" in the list!

I've done it in the past, but it does take some time to get it positioned correctly!

Paul....Panel Studio makes it so much easier.....and I like; "Easier"!.... :D ...!

I'm all about easier too! However I'm all about broke at the moment as well. I may try fiddling with it we'll see. Thanks Paul, I appreciate the answers. Have a good one. If you haven't gotten Alabeo's Cessna 404 it's a good one. You ought too. As a matter of fact it's why I'm currently broke!

You are very welcome, Merlin!... :D ...!

(..being broke is not very nice!).... ....!

One thing to remember though, if you only use the 3D virtual panel, and the gauge(s) does not appear, there is not a lot you can do about it...its not included in the original model design!

Modifying the panel can only be achieved in the 2D version of the panel!

Even "FS Panel Studio" only works successfully for the 2D panel!

There is a fully functioning demo that lets you try before you buy. But unless you never plan on editing panels or gauges FSPANEL STUDIO is the program you want. I have had it for some time now and could not do with out it. <<u

I'm almost exclusively VC myself, so that might not help. Oh well, broke as I am at the moment I'll get used to it. It's a good enough airplane you don't miss it. Actually I did some research and the real Titan didn't come stock with it either. You had to buy an add on for the real bird as well. Thanks a bunch and about the heads up on the demo. At least give me a chance to check it out for when I'm not broke. Whenever that might be... :)

Have you tried SimViation?

Simple instructions on adding it to an airplane included.

Having said that, I've never used it. :?

Have a look in the FS Gauges section here at Simviation, Pierre Fasseaux has produced several different freeware OAT
gauges. They come with installation instructions and are compatible with both FS9 and FSX.

I actually had seen those. I couldn't tell if they were meant to replace an already existing OAT gauge. Anybody tried them? The instructions look simple but wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. Do they replace an existing gauge or add a whole new one? Thanks!

Hi,
You can be confident: Pierre fasseaux is a very good gauge designer.
I have used some of his gauges without having any problem

You could make a OAT 2d window and make it visible at all times, or with a toggle, but it will be at a fixed position and will not change position as you pan around in the VC. Bob.
