De Havilland Canada Dash-7 VC

The download FSX Early De Havilland Canada Dash-7 Package updated has a virtual cockpit that I can't see.

I do get the 2D panels, but never use them.

Reading thru SimViation I find that it's easy to add or alias a VC cockpit from one aircraft to another.

Unfortunately, they didn't factor in my feeble abilities.

Try as I might, using the panel included in the download or one from another Dash 7, I end up with an unimpeded view of the wide open spaces.

Working step by step directions would be preferred & appreciated.

If not, is there any way to fix this download?

This download has the VC that I was trying to add to the DL above -> Dehavilland DHC7 Dash 7 (FSX Native) Service Pack.

You can only add a FSX VC panel from a FSX aircraft to another native FSX model. The aircraft in question is updated from FS2002 and therefore you cannot add a VC if it doesn't already have one.

To see if an a/c is a native FSX model - open the .mdl file inside the model folder (with notepad).

On the 1st line you will see (example)

MDLXMDLH

Earlier models (pre FSX) will read (example FS9) - MDL8MDLH

If you're looking for a good Dash 7 with VC for FSX

---------------------------

Regarding adding a VC to a native FSX model - it's not aliasing - you add the interior model to the model folder, modify the model file to include the interior model, add the whole panel folder and edit the views in the aircraft.cfg - which will be custom for each aircraft. Not difficult to do and I'm sure you can get help here if you want 8-)

I've deleted De Havilland Canada Dash7.

I already have that other one.

Basically, I dislike the selection of liveries included with it, so I almost never fly it.

Thanks for the info on using external virtual cockpits.

Until now, I had been under the delusion that a VC was only an alternate way of viewing the scenery. Oh well.... :confusion-shrug:

May be a good idea to request a livery for the Milton version ......... If you be specific and if I remember to check back -- I know 1 or 2 who may oblige ....
