I never had UTX, but I think that it did a bit of everything, all at once.

Ultimate Terrain X for Microsoft Flight Simulator X

According to them it does roads, rivers, coastlines, railroads, etc.

And that's what Orbx Vector does.

But Ultimate Terrain also tries to do everything else too.

To me, it sounds like a great program, and it only costs $35!

On the other hand, it looks like Orbx is breaking the world up into different groups. AND THEN subdividing the earth into more sub-groups so that they can give each area much better detail.

Needless to say, the more detail devoted to different areas of the world, the better it'll look. Especially compared to a generalized program.

Unfortunately, all that extra data will raise the end cost.

The two programs that REALLY bring my FSX to life, are my Ultimate Terrain USA (+Ultimate Terrain Europe), and my OrbX FTX Global.

UTX for the amazing scenery detail, and FTX Global for the scenery mesh (elevations etc).

Those two programs together, make an amazing difference to all the ground detail down below, making it very realistic when compared to Terrain and Satellite Maps of the same areas!

Wonderful for low altitude flyers!

Well worth purchasing.... ...!

Paul, How are your FPS with Ultimate Terrain USA (+Ultimate Terrain Europe), and OrbX FTX Global?

An Aircraft Mechanic only needs two tools, Duct Tape and WD40.
If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it's supposed to - use the WD40.

In my experience Ultimate terrain (Europe) is the best, with no fps penalty.

Hello Hawk... :D ....

With the specification of my computer, (down below), with its lovely Intel i7 Processor, my scenery glides by as smooth as silk, with absolutely no hit on frame rates....
....for the first time since I shelled out money (£650 Advent Tower) and replaced my old Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz, Dual Core, with my new computer, I can now fully enjoy everything that FSX throws at me!... ...!

Smoothness is the name of the game!

No problems with add-on scenery!

It just goes to prove that FSX relies heavily on a super-fast Processor to keep up with everything!
