egypt air A380 not showing up

hello to all: I do not know if this post fits this thread but I will try anyway.

I have downloaded the A380-800 egypt air 2.71 mb but it needs the paa380-800 base plane A380-800 emirates black. I have downloaded them both. the black emirates shows up ok but not egypt air. I have copied the flitghtsim[x] from egypt air folder into the emirates black folder renamed flightsim[1] the next number in sequence. and copied the egypt air textures into the black emirates folder also. but it did not show up. I then copied the whole folder of egypt air and placed it into the black emirates folder but still did not how up.

can someone shed some light of this subject? what i'm I missing?

Hi Bombardier,

Please check your aircraft.cfg file and ensure the Egyptair [fltsim.1] entry has the same sim entry and model entry as the Emirates Black [fltsim.0].

Then compare the Egyptair texture folder contents with that of the Emirates Black texture folder.

Any extra files in the Emirates Black texture folder need to be copied into the Egyptair texture folder. Make sure you do not overwrite any files in the Egyptair texture folder.

It should now work. Let us know how you get on.

hello algenon lacy:

the fltsim 0 and fltsim 1 are both the same. textures from black emirates and egypt air unless you want me to copy the black emirates textures it looks about the same. but the textures dds I did copy into egypt folder and nothing else. still did not show up. I have noticed that the egypt folder is missing some folders like model, panel, sound, and aircraft cfg, and anything else that needs to be there but it does not have it. this egypt air only have textures and read me folders and thats it. I think who ever the creator was must be new at building planes.

why not have someone just build an A380 egypt air separate not needing a download of the main plane to put the egypt textures into that plane.

Maybe a slight miss-understanding, I will try to help again.

The folder for the Airbus A380 has a number of "common" files that are used by each [flitsim.x] model within a single aircraft.cfg file. In my setup, I have an aircraft.cfg with 7 aircraft present:-

You will notice that each [flitsim.x] entry has a unique title, but the same "sim" and "model" entries, which correspond with "pa380.air" file and "model.vc" folder within the A380 folder. Also you should have a "panel"and "sound" folder which are common and used by all models. You will then have a number of "texture.xxx" folders where the ".xxx" corresponds with each [flitsim.x] "texture=" entry.

Within the "model.vc" folder you should have three files, which are "model.cfg" and two .mdl files, the first .mdl is the aircraft model and the second ,mdl is the virtual cockpit model.

Within the "texture.xxx" folders will be the aircraft textures and the virtual cockpit textures required by the .mdl models. The virtual cockpit textures are normally common, whereas the aircraft textures are the paint scheme for the airline.

If you remove VC entry from the model line it should work, this together with copying the missing interior files from the Emirates folder and it works OK.
