Gearing up for an overhaul

Well........the wife has gone overseas for a couple of months......and took the kids, which leaves me with some time on my hands and I plan to be really busy <<q
I am gonna do a complete rebuild of my FS set-up!!!
First thing I did was replace my tired old CH yoke with a Saitek yoke, an extra TQ, and a Saitek trim wheel. I have an extra monitor which I want to export some gauges too. I have recently acquired FS panel studio and I intend to use it to build suitable gauge packages to undock and move onto the separate screen.
I am hoping to gain some insight from others who have more experience in running two monitors with this kind of configuration. It is not my intention to make a dedicated simulator, my taste in planes varies from small single GA, to GA twins, and the occasional short haul in smaller commuter jets......So I want to have a few different instrument set-ups to suite those three styles of AC.
My question on this is should I be trying use the mini-panel function to make a few panels that can be used globally? Or should I be just re-sizing and re-arranging the existing panels for each plane that I want to use?.....I kinda like the minipanel idea because it seems like it would be easier to make only three layouts.
Any insight or thoughts would be appreciated....I upload some pics in the coming days

Well..........I guess my question wasn't really all that clear?
As promised I have a few pictures of my progress.

Last night I moved it inside and got to test everything <<s
I have made up a template for both a small single, and a heavy twin (737ng), and have yet to get a smaller twin template going.
Next step is to make up removable panels to fit over the screen area that can be changed depending on which class of AC you are using.
I'll post more when the screen covers are done........soon

That is a GREAT concept for a pit that can be multiple different aircraft. Nice solution.

Cheers John

My next face plate is for a twin turboprop.....Kingair, Dash-8, Beech 1900 kinda thing.

Another question I have is that in order to undock a window and move it down for running gauges I have to go into windowed mode in order to do it, which is fine........but I would like to be able to return to full screen, unfortunately it turns into a slide show if I press ALT-Enter......Anybody know if there is a way around this problem, I really don't like windowed mode?

Nice work Rom! It has been a while since I have been here. I have received my new Cessna yokes since we last spoke. I still have not installed them but soon. If you are ever up for a co-pilot set up I have a spare Saitek yoke. Again nice work!

Beautiful setup, Romflyer.

Clean, simple, versatile, and truly unique.

If I could give it an award, you'd have a blue ribbon hanging on the side in a flash.

Hey guys......thank you for the kind words.

I have gotten most of the bugs worked through and I am really enjoying the functionality of the set-up.
I still wish I could figure out how to get it run in full screen mode.......That, and trying to figure out how to correctly import all the aircraft in my hanger so they show up on the second screen......correctly. Every third plane that I try to make an alternate panel for refuses to show up within the game....it has been a bit frustrating with some planes.
I have had success with most of my Carenados 182, 182rg, 206, and the Mooney....no problem, but the 152, 185 and the Seneca just refuse to play ball.....with the Aerosoft beaver, the old (ugly) cockpit works like a charm, but the modern cockpit....no joy. Luckily the PMDG B1900 went smoothly, and my 737 Exp as seen in the pix up and running.

Mark.....if only I had the room

While I'm at it, this is how my three set-ups look when I'm not using them.

Your setup is mighty tempting.

If I may;

How did you make the monitor/instrument cover/cutouts? The precision is remarkable.

Can you give us some info on the vertical button strip?
